To provide skills and knowledge to understand the types of risks and the methodologies and processes to manage them.
Course outline
In a world of risk and liability where mistakes or oversights can cost money, reputation and competitive positions, risk management is an important cultural characteristic which maintains positive results in all areas of the organisation. This course gives a basic overview of the types of risk and the methodologies and processes to manage them. It is designed for all levels of the organisation. The outcomes for this course are that participants are able to conduct internal assessments with a range of options to manage risk.
ESTABLISH RISK CONTEXT - Review organisational processes, procedures and requirements for undertaking risk management - Determine scope for risk management process - Review political,economical, social, legal, technological and policy context - Obtain support for risk management activities - Communicate with relevant parties about the risk management process and invite participation
IDENTIFY RISKS - Invite relevant parties to assist in the identification of risks - Research risks that may apply to scope - Use tools and techniques to generate a list of risks that apply to the scope, in consultation with relevant parties
ANALYSE RISKS - Assess likelihood of risks occuring - Research risks that may apply to scope - Evaluate risk management process
SELECT AND IMPLEMENT TREATMENTS - Determine and select most appropriate options for treating risks - Develop an action plan for implementing risk treatment - Communicate risk management processes to relevant parties - Ensure all documentation is in order an appropriately stored - Implement and monitor action plan - Evaluate risk management process
