BACKGROUND INFORMATION: In Queensland, the Department of Primary Industries and Fisheries administers the Agricultural Chemicals Distribution Control Act 1966 (ACDC Act). The ACDC Act controls ground distribution (spraying, spreading and dispersing) of agricultural chemicals. Ground distribution is defined in the Act as the spraying, spreading or dispersing of any herbicides or any preparation containing any herbicide from ground equipment. Ground equipment is defined as any machine/apparatus used or intended for the distribution of a herbicide. Some equipment is exempted from this definition in locations outside of hazardous areas. These exemptions are: • equipment that is hand powered • equipment powered by compressed air or gas applied directly to the spray liquid for distribution without the use of air blast techniques . • hose proportioning devices.
