This course provides you with basic awareness of construction hazards and risks to help prevent workplace accidents, injury or illness, increase your knowledge of workplace injury management, standards of behaviour on-site, occupational health & safety (OH&S) legal responsibilities, how OH&S issues should be dealt with and workers compensation.

Looking to work in construction? It is compulsory that you complete a Construction Induction training course to be able to work on a domestic or commercial construction site.
Protect yourself and your work mates by being aware of how to increase safety at work. The White Card is nationally accepted so you can work in anywhere in Australia!
The Queensland ‘blue card’ course expired on 30 July 2009 and has been replaced by the new nationally agreed unit of competency CPCCOHS1001A Work safely in the construction industry.Existing blue card holders are not required to undertake further training or replace their blue card as it will continue to be valid and recognised in Queensland and other states and territories.

Workplace Health and Safety Queensland may issue penalties of up to $3000 for failing to hold an induction card. Construction organisations beware - permitting a person to commence work at a construction site without a evidence of construction induction carries a maximum penalty of $15,000. COURSE CONTENT The course consists of the training unit CPCCOHS1001A Work Safely in the Construction Industry (White Card), The unit relates directly to the general induction training program specified by the National Code of Practice for Induction Training for Construction Work (ASCC 2006).
The course will equip you or your staff with the skill and knowledge to: 1) Identify OHS legislative requirements. 2) Identify construction hazards and control measures. 3) Identify OHS communication and reporting processes. 4) Identify OHS incident response procedures.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND: If you are looking to work in construction as aLabourer, Apprentice, Trainee, Trades-person, Site Manager or Supervisor, Project Manager, Contractor, Traffic Control, or visit a work site on a regular basis this course is an essential requirement. Construction work includes housing construction, civil construction, building, demolition work, fit outs, renovations, repairs, refurbishment, asbestos removal, structural steel erection, carpentry, bricklaying, concreting, plumbing, electrical, painting, refurbishing, shop-fitting, repairs, plastering, floor and wall tiling, roof tiling and installation of floor covering. Some organisations, such as Shire and City Council, Roads and Traffic Authority, or larger construction groups insist that the White Card be the minimum entry level to any worksite controlled by them. Construction organisations: we can provide the White Card training on-site as part of staff induction. RECEIVING YOUR WHITE CARD On successful course completion and identity verification, you will be provided with a White Card and a Statement of Attainment showing the award of CPCCOHS1001A Work safely in the construction industry. There is no expiry date for the White Card. HOW THE COURSE IS DELIVERED: Classroom: Delivered by an industry experienced trainer who will lead you through the learner guide workbook, and facilitate group discussions. At the end of the course you are required to successfully complete a written assessment. On-Site: Bring the course on-site on a date suitable to you and our trainer will lead your staff through the learner guide workbook and facilitate group discussion. Participants will receive support throughout the course to contribute to successful completion. WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING? You must bring a signed photo ID with you to enable you to undertake the training and assessment as it is a legal requirement that your identity is verified before a White card can be issued. Please bring a pen and notepaper with you.
Pre-requisites
- Participants must bring photo ID to class otherwise the White Card cannot be issued.
-Participants must be able to read and write in English language.
